Rainwater harvesting rules in West Bengal

Rainwater harvesting is mandatory for all buildings under the West Bengal Municipal (Building) Rules, 2007 (Rule 171). A 2015 government reply said the 2009 rules apply it to buildings with a roof area above 20,000 sq m, which looks inconsistent with the 2007 rule.

Note: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation Building Rules, 2009 were not verified. The 20,000 sq m figure in the 2015 reply looks odd and may be a transcription error.
