Rainwater harvesting rules in Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh requires rainwater harvesting in government buildings and in new buildings above 300 sq m, including group housing and housing schemes. In October 2025 the Chief Minister directed that it be made mandatory for all buildings above 100 sq m, in both urban and rural areas. The implementing bye-law amendment was not confirmed.
Note: The 100 sq m figure is a CM directive reported by the press, not yet a notified bye-law.
