CSR school buildings, toilets and sanitation projects

A new classroom block or a working girls' toilet changes attendance in a way people can see. We build and repair school and sanitation infrastructure as CSR projects, and keep the records your CSR team needs from the first survey to handover.

What we build

  • New school buildings and additional classrooms.
  • Repairs and retrofits: roofs, flooring, plaster, painting, electrical work and boundary walls.
  • Separate toilet blocks for girls and boys, staff toilets and accessible toilets.
  • Handwashing stations and drinking water points.
  • Health units, anganwadi centres and community buildings.

Working with schools and authorities

Most government school projects need the agreement of the school management and the education department. We prepare the drawings and the scope with them, so the building suits how the school is actually used and approvals do not hold up the work.

We plan noisy or unsafe work around school hours and keep the site fenced off from students.

What you can report

  • Classrooms, toilet seats or square metres built or repaired.
  • The number of students and staff using the facility.
  • Before, during and after photos for every block.
  • Final cost against the approved budget.

Frequently asked questions

Who owns a school building built with CSR funds?

Not the company. Under the CSR rules, a capital asset created with CSR money must be held by the implementing agency, the beneficiaries or a public authority. For a government school, that is usually the school or the education department.

Do school and toilet projects count under Schedule VII?

Yes. Schedule VII lists promoting education and promoting sanitation and preventive health care, among other activities. School buildings, toilets and health units fall under these.

Can you work during the school term?

Yes. We schedule the heavy work for holidays and weekends where possible, and keep the work area separated from students the rest of the time.
