Rainwater harvesting rules in Manipur
Under the Model Manipur Unified Building Bye-Laws, 2024, rainwater harvesting is mandatory in all existing and new buildings on plots of 100 sq m and above. Building plans must show the storm-water drainage and where rainwater is collected, in surface reservoirs or recharge wells.
Note: These are model bye-laws. Each municipal body adopts them, and Imphal notified its own IMC Building Bye-Laws in Dec 2025, whose RWH clause was not checked.
