Borewell recharge · Gurugram
Borewell recharge in Gurgaon (Gurugram)
Gurugram's borewells are drying because the district pumps out 195% of the groundwater that can safely be taken out each year. A recharge pit and bore next to your borewell sends filtered roof and yard rainwater straight down to the same layers, which slows the fall of the water around it. TerraSetu builds them across Gurugram for houses, farms, societies and factories.
How deep the water is in Gurugram
In CGWB's pre-monsoon readings, most monitoring wells in the district have water 20–40 m below ground, from 14.89 m (49 ft) in the shallowest to 40.2 m (132 ft) in the deepest. A recharge bore has to reach below that to work, so in most of Gurugram we drill about 120 ft. See the water table page for Gurugram.
What we build
Collect the water
Roof downpipes and yard drains are joined and led through a filter chamber of gravel, charcoal and sand, with a first-flush diverter for the dirty first rain.
Recharge pit
A pit about 2 × 2 × 2.5 m, lined with honeycomb brickwork and filled with boulders, gravel and coarse sand, with an RCC cover.
Recharge bore
A 150 mm bore in the pit floor with slotted PVC casing, about 120 ft deep, a few metres from your borewell.
Dry borewell conversion
A borewell that has already failed can be turned into a recharge bore with a filter on top, which saves drilling a new one.
What it costs in Gurugram
| Recharge bore depth | One recharge point with GST |
|---|---|
| 120 ft (most of Gurugram) | ₹1.1 lakh to ₹1.7 lakh |
| 200 ft (where water is deeper) | ₹1.4 lakh to ₹2.2 lakh |
One pit with media and bore, plus a filter chamber and piping, at the same unit rates as our rainwater harvesting cost pages. A house usually needs one point; a society or factory needs several.

Frequently asked questions
How much does borewell recharge cost in Gurgaon?
One recharge point with a 120 ft bore, pit, filter and piping costs about ₹1.1 lakh to ₹1.7 lakh with GST. Where water is deeper and the bore goes to 200 ft, about ₹1.4 lakh to ₹2.2 lakh.
Will recharge bring my borewell back?
Recharge helps from the first monsoon by putting water back near the borewell, but Gurugram's water table recovers over years and only if neighbours recharge too. It slows the fall first, then reverses it.
Can I put rainwater straight into my borewell?
Only clean roof water, and only through a filter. Unfiltered water chokes the bore with silt and yard runoff can carry dirt into your drinking water. A separate recharge bore a few metres away is safer.
