Projects that fit

  • Safe drinking water in schools: RO or fluoride-removal units with a rainwater tank, since tests found fluoride in Kaushambi's groundwater.
  • Rainwater harvesting and recharge in school campuses: about ₹1.1 lakh to ₹1.7 lakh per recharge point with a 120 ft bore. See the cost in Kaushambi.
  • Pond and tank revival: 16 water bodies in Kaushambi are not in use. Desilting a one-acre pond costs about ₹9 lakh to ₹15 lakh. See pond rejuvenation.
  • Classrooms to upgrade schools where the next level is too far: 60 schools are beyond 3 km to class 6 or 5 km to class 9. A classroom costs about ₹17 lakh to ₹19 lakh for the structure; see school building cost.
  • Girls' toilets, handwashing stations and repairs, checked school by school against UDISE+ report cards.
